<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely achieve early activation of catalyst for exhaust emission purification of an engine with a turbo charger even if atmospheric barometric pressure is low. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust device equipped with a turbo charger, a bypass passage for communicating between the upstream side and downstream side of an exhaust turbine by bypassing the exhaust turbine of the turbo charger, and a catalyst for exhaust emission purification provided to the downstream side from a merging part of the bypass passage and a bypass passage opening/closing means for opening/closing the bypass passage, is provided with a pressure responding member for partitioning a first chamber in which negative pressure from an intake manifold acts and a second chamber in which positive pressure acts, a first drive means for driving the bypass passage opening/closing means by activating the pressure responding member in accordance with pressure difference of both chambers, a control means for controlling the bypass passage opening/closing means in the opening direction by the first drive means when the catalyst idles in the non-activation state, and pressure difference increasing means for increasing the pressure difference when the pressure difference does not reach a prescribed value during idling and the bypass passage opening/closing means does not open to the desired opening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
