PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding method capable of molding a shaped article having a microscopic structure of a high aspect ratio more simply and at a low cost, a molding apparatus and a cooling apparatus therefor, and an optical element. SOLUTION: The molding method includes the steps of positioning a mold member M opposite to the material P to be molded, pressing the member M at a first speed after the microscopic structure comes in contact with the material P to be molded, to thereby melt only the surface of the material P to be molded so that the microscopic structure can be transferred, then, pressing the mold member M at a second speed higher than the first speed against the material P to be molded to perform transfer of the microscopic structure.
