PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device capable of increasing conveniences when users require abstracts by preparing those abstracts having such lengths as requested by the users or matching the contents of the document to be abstracted. SOLUTION: This information processing device 100 comprises a summary condition setting part 203, a document summarizing treatment part 204, and a summarized result display part 206. When a "summarizing rate is specified" or a "number of characters is specified" is selected by a user on a summary condition setting screen 700 displayed by the summary condition setting part 203, an abstract with the summarizing rate or the number of characters specified by the document summarizing processing part 204 is prepared. When an "arbitrary" is selected by the user, the abstract with an optimum length according to a score distribution is prepared by the document summarizing processing part 204 by using a statistic method, and the prepared abstract is displayed on a CRT 18 by the summarized result display part 206.
