PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving torque estimating method of a variable displacement compressor capable of controlling driving torque of the variable displacement compressor being an engine load in response to required engine output torque, by accurately estimating the driving torque of the variable displacement compressor. SOLUTION: This refrigerating cycle has the variable displacement compressor 1 for controlling delivery capacity from an external part by controlling pressure in a crankcase by a capacity control valve 5 so that differential pressure between delivery pressure and suction pressure becomes constant, and an expansion device 3 without changing the passage area; and estimates the driving torque by using the passage area of the expansion device 3 and an engine speed, by estimating differential pressure between refrigerant high pressure side pressure and low pressure side pressure in the refrigerating cycle from this value, by directly measuring an electric signal for controlling the capacity control valve 5. Since the differential pressure in the refrigerating cycle can be accurately estimated by obtaining from the electric signal for controlling its differential pressure, accuracy of the driving torque estimated from this differential pressure can be improved.
