PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare silica treated with a silane coupling agent capable of preparing a rubber composition having excellent workability (kneading workability and forming workability), preservation stability (storage stability) and vulcanization properties by being kneaded with raw material rubber, and capable of forming vulcanized rubber (a rubber product for vibration proof or earthquake isolation) having excellent vibration proof performance and supporting performance, having the reduced compression set and also having excellent heat aging resistance by vulcanizing the same, further, to provide a rubber composition for vibration proof or earthquake isolation comprising the same, and to provide a rubber product for vibration proof or earthquake isolation obtained by vulcanizing the same. SOLUTION: The invention is obtained by subjecting 100 pts.mass of silica to surface treatment with 1 to 50 pts.mass of a silane coupling agent expressed by the general formula (1): Y3-Si-Z-S-CO-R (wherein, Y is a 1 to 6C alkoxy group or a 1 to 6C acetoxy group; Z is a 1 to 8C alkylene group; and R is a 1 to 18C hydrocarbon group), and sulfur treatment width lies within the range of 50 to 200%.
