PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of optionally changing a paper feed pressure with respect to a paper feed roller by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The paper feeder is provided with a bottom plate 5 vertically movably supported in a paper feed tray and piled up with a bundle of a plurality of paper sheets; a paper feed roller 9 provided above the bottom plate 5; and a pressing spring 13 for urging the bottom plate 5 to the paper feed roller 9 and an auxiliary spring 19. In the paper feeder 1, the paper bundle piled up on the bottom plate 5 is abutted on the paper feed roller 9 and the paper sheets are fed one by one.
