GERMAN COCKROACH ATTRACTANT

A compound of formula (I) where R represents unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or aryl, and X represents formula (II) or formula (III), where R<SUP>1</SUP> and R<SUP>2</SUP> are each H or alkyl, is disclosed. Compounds of formula (I) are particularly useful as an attractant for cockroaches, namely, Blattella germanica. Synthesis of the compounds, methods of controlling cockroach populations, and of disrupting cockroach mating are also disclosed.
