PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely confirm soundness of a welded zone between a bar connected to a deflector of a core spray sparger and a sparger nozzle. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic flaw detector is equipped with an ultrasonic probe, a flaw detection head, and a stopper device for fixing the flaw detection head to the sparger nozzle, and the flaw detection head is equipped with an ultrasonic probe moving device for moving the ultrasonic probe toward a portion to be inspected, and an ultrasonic probe contact device for bringing the ultrasonic probe into contact with the portion to be inspected. The flaw detection head for holding the ultrasonic probe is connected remotely to the sparger nozzle, and the ultrasonic probe can be installed on the portion to be inspected, and ultrasonic flaw detection can be performed on the portion to be inspected. Resultantly, the soundness of the weld zone between the sparger nozzle and the bar connected to the deflector can be confirmed remotely. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
