<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for expanding the image pick-up region in an ultrasonic system. <P>SOLUTION: This method for expanding the image pick-up region in a medical imaging system (100) includes a process for scanning the surface (402) of a subject (200) using an ultrasonic transducer (106), a process for obtaining a plurality of three-dimensional volumetric data groups having an overlapping area (412, 416, or 420) with at least one of the other three-dimensional volumetric data groups (408, 410, 414, and 418), and a process for producing panoramic three-dimensional volume images by putting together at a same position the three-dimensional volumetric data groups spatially adjoining to each other by using their overlapping area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
