BUNDLED ELEMENT FILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD

An filtration system and method provides the ability to filter a wide range of extremely fine particulate matter in solution ranging in size from micron size particles to molecular elements. The apparatus includes a pressure vessel housing a cross-flow filtration assembly including a plurality of spiral wound type membrane filtration elements in a parallel arrangement. The position of the vessel's feed inlet combined with the geometry of the membrane elements provides a continuous scouring of the face of the elements. The system significantly reduces fouling of the elements, minimized the pressure drop through the elements, and allows the elements to operate at a high efficiency for longer durations between backwash cycles.
