The method involves filling two volumes (14, 15) with test gas (13) under specific pressure, and measuring pressure of the volumes to determine respective pressure-measured values (41, 42). A total-pressure-measured value (46) is determined by measuring total pressure of the two volumes. Another volume value (48) is determined based on the values (41, 42, 46). The volume (48) contains or forms one test volume (11). One volume (15) is filled with test gas after closing the filled volume (14). An independent claim is also included for a device for determining test gas volumes with a control device for controlling it.
