<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element in which leaked light visually identified at end parts of the liquid crystal display element is nearly completely intercepted and further no damage such as a crack is caused on a black mask, a transparent electrode and so on in cutting off a transparent substrate from a mother substrate. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is equipped with a pair of transparent substrates 2, a display region 9 located on a center part of the pair of transparent substrates 2, a non-display region 10 surrounding the display region and a sealing material 7 formed on the non-display region 10, wherein the non-display region 10 has a first light shielding region 10b composed of a region extending from an outer circumference of the display region 9 to an outer circumference of the sealing material 7 and a second light shielding region 10s composed of a region extending from an outer circumference of the first light shielding region 10b to an outer circumference of the transparent substrate 2. A first light shielding member 3b is disposed on the first light shielding region 10b, and a second light shielding member 3s is disposed on the second light shielding region 10s, wherein the second light shielding member 3s is partitioned into a plurality of sections between inner and outer circumferences of the second light shielding region 10s. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
