PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromotive toggle type mold clamping apparatus that mechanically and directly prevents the mold from opening during the mold clamping and that can prevent the mold from damaging, and to provide its mold opening preventing device. SOLUTION: By fixing the shutter 21 that comes into contact with the tip of the ball screw axis 14 joined to the mold opening-closing driving unit 7 that is installed in the end housing 3 of the electromotive toggle type mold clamping apparatus, the guide block 22 that holds it, the actuator 23 that moves the shutter 21 and the position detector 24 that detects the position of the shutter 21 to the cross-head 6 and by inhibiting the cross-head 6 from moving back, the mold 8 is prevented from opening during the mold clamping.
