<p>A display obviating the need for a part of a backlight device and capable of being thinner by the obviation. The display comprises two display panels each composed of a liquid crystal layer and two opposed transparent substrates sandwiching the liquid layer. A first display panel has a reflective layer, a transparent substrate with a lightguide function, and a light control layer. Illuminating means is constituted of a second transparent substrate, a reflective layer (113), the light control layer, and a light source and serves to illuminate the second display panel which is an object to be illuminated. The second display panel is illuminated with the light emitted from the transparent substrate with the light guide function.</p> |
