The method involves converting chemical energy in a molten carbonate fuel cell (14) to electrical energy for driving a DC-motor that is coupled to a generator and gas and steam turbines. Exhaust gas, from which carbon dioxide is removed at the end of power generation, is fed from the cell to the gas turbine for combustion. Steam is generated in a steam generator from the waste heat of the gas turbine and from the cell`s thermal energy.
