<p>A cooling furnace for flat glass with a middle section of constant thickness and edges of different thickness, comprises a heating unit arranged laterally to the direction of glass movement. A separating shield is arranged in the furnace parallel to the direction of movement, which prevents the heating unit acting on the edge regions. The separating shield extends from the ceiling and/or the base of the furnace to the glass surface, and there is a gap of 10-150mm between the edge of the shield near the glass and the glass surface. The shield consists of metal, especially steel, and can be moved horizontally.</p> |
