PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a double joint between a can body and a can end. SOLUTION: A chuck 30 having a head-cut conical shape driving face 32 with approximately the same angle of inclination as the inclination of a chuck wall 24 at the can end, and a substantially cylindrical surface part 33 extending in the separating direction from the driving face, is placed in a chuck wall 24. A first operating joint is formed by a relative movement between an assembly of the can end and the can body, and a first jointing operational roll 34. Then, a double joint is completed by a relative movement between the first operating joint and a second jointing operational roll. During these jointing operations, the chuck wall 24 is bent so as to bring the chuck wall 24 into contact with the cylindrical part 33 of the chuck. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
