There are provided an image search method and an image search device including: means for extracting a color distribution characteristic amount, a representative color characteristic amount, an area division characteristic amount, and a shape characteristic amount from a reference image serving as a search key; and means for identifying an area in attention in the image by using the aforementioned characteristic amounts.
