PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system for setting an optimium photographing mode at the time of fixing without performing complicated operation when the camera system is fixed. SOLUTION: The camera system is provided with: a detector 12 for detecting whether a tripod 20 is attached on a system body 100 of the camera system; and CPU 19 for determining the photographing mode in response to a selection instruction by selectably setting the optimium photographing mode, when the tripod is attached from among a plurality of the photographing modes set previously when it is detected that the tripod is attached on the system body 100 by the detector 12.
