PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a substrate for a lithographic printing plate which enables attainment of an original plate of the lithographic printing plate being excellent in both stain resistance and plate wear resistance, by using an alternating current electrolysis in a water solution containing a hydrochloric acid. SOLUTION: An alternating current which has a triangular wave form and of which the current value on the occasion of an aluminum sheet becoming an anode rises from zero to a peak value a (a>0) in one cycle in a time more than 50 to 100% of the time needed for the aluminum sheet to become the anode, is made to flow through the aluminum sheet in the water solution containing the hydrochloric acid.
