PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive defectless radiation detection device wherein a phosphor protective layer is formed in an embedded shape between columns of a columnar crystal of a phosphor with one layer, having a light reflecting function and a moisture-proof function by forming the phosphor protective layer comprising a resin including light reflecting particles on a phosphor layer. SOLUTION: This radiation detection device has a sensor panel having a light receiving part comprising a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arrayed on a substrate; the phosphor layer having a columnar crystal structure provided by direct deposition at least on the light receiving part, for converting a radiation into sensible light by the photoelectric conversion elements; and a phosphor protective member including the phosphor protective layer in contact with the sensor panel, for covering the phosphor layer.
