APPARATUS FOR FORMING DOUBLE JOINT BETWEEN CAN END AND CAN BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming a double joint between a can body and a can end. SOLUTION: A chuck 30 has a curl 23 arranged in a chuck wall 24 on the can end provided on a flange 11 of the can body supported on a base plate 4, and has a head-cut conical shape driving face 32 with approximately the same angle of inclination B as the inclination of the chuck wall 24 of the can end, and a substantially cylindrical surface part 33 extending in the separating direction from the driving face. A first operational jointing roll 34 forms a first operating joint by a relative movement between an assembly of the can end and the can body. A second operational jointing roll 38 completes a double joint by a relative movement between the first operating joint after the first operating joint is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
