The method involves storing data in a non volatile memory of a data medium, and implementing instruction set in the data medium by functionalities provided for processing the data. Verification is made whether predetermined security requirements (4) are met for the data medium, by using the functionalities of the instruction set. The verification is performed by using a verification instruction ` VERIFY` from the instruction set. An independent claim is also included for a data medium with a non-volatile memory.
