<p>The present invention relates to a method to protect human eyes in optical communication system. Said method is applied to channel layer of said optical communication system, and includes protection process and restoration process. In said protection process, the connected optical fiber multiplexing segments can be detected at the terminal node. In order to realize human eyes protection, said multiplexing segments are shutdown or the optical transmission power is reduced after the fault is detected. Said restoration process can detect optical fiber status , and restore normal operating state of the system after the line repair. The method of the present invention can control all channel power devices within affected multiplexing segments by channel layer, and provide required human eye protection function without the other devices such as electric-controlled optical attenuator (EVOA), thereby can significantly reduce system complexity and costs. Meanwhile, restoration process detects line condition with the method of transmitting power over channel layer, and utilizes message structure of pulse train, thus avoids over strong power level for the reasons that all channel are switched on/off together.</p> |
