<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel enhancing the life of a bearing device by controlling the decreasing amount of a clearance by caulking work and keeping the optimum preloading amount. <P>SOLUTION: In the bearing device for the wheel in which an inner ring 3 is pressed in a small diameter step part 2b of a hub wheel 2, and the inner ring 3 is fixed to the hub wheel 2 in the shaft direction with a caulking part 2c formed by elastically deforming the end part of the small diameter step part 2b outward in the diameter direction, the dimension ratio α of the inner ring 3 is prescribed by α=(As×At×Pt)/(An×B), when a shoulder cross section in the inner ring 3 is represented by As, a touch diameter cross section by At, pitch length in a tough part by Pt, an inner cross section by An, and a width dimension by B, and by setting the inner ring dimension ratio in a range of 240-530, the range of the decreasing amount of the clearance by caulking work can surely be suppressed, the range of the bearing clearance after caulking can be decreased as much as possible, and the optimum preloading can be kept. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
