PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of reducing a defect caused in an image when a conversion lens is mounted on a digital still camera without improving the dimensional precision and the optical performance of the conversion lens. SOLUTION: The camera detects the presence/absence of mount of the conversion lens and applies correction for reducing a defect caused by the mounting (e.g., a defect caused by misalignment between optical axes of the conversion lens and a photographing lens) to image data when the conversion lens is mounted. When the camera is compatible with a plurality of conversion lenses, the camera discriminates the type of the conversion lens and carries out correction in response to a result of the discrimination.
