Method for detecting gas entrapped within viscous or pasty liquids in which a quantity of the viscous medium is placed under high pressure and the resulting compression of the medium is calculated. Any noticeable compression indicates gas is present due to the fact that liquids are largely incompressible. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for implementing the method.
