<p>A papermaking assembly has a rotating drum in which water collects and from which it is removed by a siphon mouthpiece (11) with a first inlet (11.1) and a second inlet (11.2) sweeping surfaces in opposite directions. The outlet is protected by a hinged flap (20) that switches presentation in response to a change in fluid pressure. The flap allows liquid already present to pass to the outlet, but blocks direct passage of the incoming liquid to the outlet. The mouthpiece has a chamber forming a link between the inlet (11.1, 11.2) and the outlet. The mouthpiece (11) and flap (20) are made of metal or plastic and are fabricated as a one-piece unit. The flap is operated by electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic action. Also claimed is a commensurate paper press drum or coating drum.</p> |
