Coloring composition (A) comprises at least a direct hydrophobic dye (I) (which has log P higher than 2), an organic or mineral acid (having association constant of weak acid (pKa) less than 4.5) and/or an divalent mineral acid salt, in a hydroalcoholic coloring medium containing water (60%). An independent claim is also included for the coloring process comprising application of (A) on the keratinous fibers to obtain desired colored.
