PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient production method for an amino compound useful as a raw material for resins of polyimide, polyamide, polyamideimide and the like and also useful as an epoxy resin hardener or the like, particularly the amino compound for synthesizing a polyimide material capable of reducing birefringence with which a conventional optical polyimide has trouble. SOLUTION: This amino compound, triptycenediamine represented by general formula (I) is produced by nitrating a triptycene derivative and then reducing the obtained nitro-substitution product of triptycene.
