Composition (I) for the treatment of human keratinous fibers comprises ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid (A) and/or its salts and a cationic polymer (B) having a charge density of at least 1 meq/g. Independent claims are also included for the process of permanent deformation of human keratinous fibers, discoloration of human keratinous fibers and/or coloration of human keratinous fibers comprising contacting (I) with the fibers to obtain the desired effect.
