PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partition body for a book shelf, which is allowed to hold a book, data, or the like (hereinafter, "book, data, or the like" is referred to as a document) in an upright state by being interposed between the documents. SOLUTION: The partition body for the book shelf, which is allowed to be interposed between the documents housed on a shelf board of the book shelf in an upright state, has a pair of side plates, a elastic body disposed on the opposed inner surfaces of the pair of side plates and having elasticity in the direction of separating the pair of side plates, and a side plate engagement mechanism for engageably and disengageably engaging the pair of side plates against the elasticity of the elastic body. The partition body is interposed between the documents, elastically presses the documents abutting on the outer surfaces of the side plates to both sides through the side plates to stably hold the documents in an upright state, and both side plates are held in a state of superposition by the side plate engagement mechanism when removed from the book shelf.
