PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool which can supply compressed air to an aerostatic bearing portion with a simple structure, and can supply the compressed air without being affected by an electric power failure, etc. SOLUTION: The machine tool 1 having the aerostatic bearing portion comprises a cylinder 2 for supplying the compressed air to the aerostatic bearing portion, and a regulator 3 for regulating the pressure of the compressed air. The machine tool 1 is placed in a constant temperature room 10. The cylinder 2 can be changed. Because an electric power source is not necessary for supplying the compressed air, the compressed air can always be supplied regardless of the running circumstances of the machine tool 1 and the power failure, etc. Because the pressure drop at the bearing portion does not exist, the failure of the bearing due to the intrusion of dust, etc. is not caused. Because the temperature of the cylinder 2 follows the temperature in the constant temperature room and the cylinder 2 does not contain impurities such as dust, the compressed air with a constant temperature, and a constant pressure, without foreign substance such as dust and water, can be supplied.
