A sheet-through image reading apparatus has an operation section for setting operation conditions, a document feeder for feeding a document to a read position, and a read section for reading the document passing the read position with a stationary image sensor. A time needed to feed a document from a document tray to the read position is predicted based on the operation conditions, and the document is started to be fed at a timing before the preparation for reading is completed. Thus, the reading device are correlated to the document feeder so that the reading is started at a timing which takes scattering of the magnifying power or feed length among apparatuses into account. |
