A saw blade 3 for a power-operated surgical saw 1, comprises a forward end (FB) and a rearward end (RB). The forward end (FB) is provided with (i) at least two mutually aligned rows 9, 10, 11, 12 of first saw teeth (t), each having a tip (p) which together with the other tips of the respective row of first saw teeth define a respective cutting line 17, and (ii) at least one second saw tooth 13, 14, 15 located between adjacent mutually aligned rows of first saw teeth (t) and having a tip (q) that projects further from the saw blade (3) than the cutting lines (17) of the adjacent rows of first saw teeth. The rearward end of the blade is shaped for cooperation with a mechanism adapted to impart an orbital motion to the saw blade. The saw blade may be used in the performance of knee replacement surgery. Navigation means (5, 6, 7, 8, fig 1) may be attached to the saw for communication with reference means mounted in an operating theatre for signalling to a computer the spatial position and orientation of the saw relative to a bone to be cut. |
