The method involves measuring a cross track deviation of an aircraft relative to a lateral alignment beam emitted by a radio-transmitter. A distance defined, along a runway, between a position of a pilot in the cockpit and the radio-transmitter, is calculated. A line corresponding to a central axis of the runway is determined from the deviation and the distance. The line is displayed on a visual display unit (15) of a head-up display (13) according to a representation conformed to be shown to a pilot directly in superposition of the central axis. The line is displayed on the visual display unit in superposition of an environment existing in front of the aircraft.
