The bed has a bedspring frame mounted on a base (4). A deployment/ folding mechanism has an activation unit (6) with a base arm (62) and an active arm (61) forming a bent between them. The arm (62) is mounted rotating on an intermediate frame (41) of the base and the arm (61) is mounted on a foot part (3) of the base by a rotative connection (611). The arm (61) takes variable configuration with respect to the part for the rotational movement of the connection around a rotational axis remote from rotational axis of unit (6) with respect to the frame (41).
