A gate has opposed posts 2, 3 connected to a beam 6, preferably through extension pieces 7, 8, the beam 6 having lateral stabilisers 9. The beam, extension pieces and stabilisers are preferably buried in an appropriately shaped trench. The attachment of the gate posts to the beam prevents the posts from tilting and the stabilisers provide lateral stability by preventing the beam from rotating about its axis. |
