PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inorganic particle-bearing PTFE fiber seldom causing its mechanical strength deterioration. SOLUTION: The inorganic particle-bearing PTFE fiber is characterized by that part of inorganic particles is exposed on the surface of the fiber's cross section and the cross section has multiple unevennesses or is flat. A method for producing the PTFE fiber is also provided, comprising the following process: A mixed solution consisting of viscose as matrix and an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene is extruded via multiple spinneret nozzles into a coagulating bath containing sulfuric acid 7-13% in concentration and sodium sulfate 7-15% in concentration, spun and then scoured. The resultant yarn is semi-baked at a temperature of 80°C or higher but lower than 320°C under a relaxation of 1-5% and then baked at 320-380°C. The PTFE fiber thus produced has a single filament fineness of 1.5-18.0 dtex and a fineness variation of less than 10%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
