PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition for a dish washer, capable of speeding up removal of stains, drying of dishes and reducing water spots without using any rinse agent. SOLUTION: The detergent composition for the dish washer contains (A) at least one chosen from water-soluble polysaccharides and a polymer compound containing a structural unit derived from a cationic monomer and (B) at least one chosen from nonionic surfactants of specific formula (I) and/or (II) in a weight ratio (A)/(B) of from 3/1 to 1/5.
