PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of well dispersing carbon nanotubes in various kinds of solvent. SOLUTION: This dispersant for carbon nanotubes is characterized by comprising a head part selected from the group consisting of -SH, -NH<SB>2</SB>, a group represented by chemical formula (1) and a group represented by chemical formula (2), and a tail part represented by chemical formula (3), where in formula (1), X is S, NH or O; in formula (2), X is S, NH or O, and l is an integer of 2-60; in formula (3), Y is selected from the group consisting of a substituted or nonsubstituted 1-10C alkylene group, a substituted or nonsubstituted 1-10C alkenylene group, a substituted or nonsubstituted 1-10C alkynylene group, and a substituted or nonsubstituted 6-20C arylalkyl group; Z is selected from the group consisting of -H, -CH<SB>3</SB>, -OH, a carboxy group, a carboxylate group, a sulfo group, a sulfonate group, a phosphoric group and a phosphate group; a is 0 or 1; m is an integer of 1-9; and n is an integer of 0-9.
