PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrode coating glass which is PbO-free glass and can give a fired glass layer of a heightened transmittance. SOLUTION: What is provided is: electrode coating PbO-free glass essentially consisting of, in terms of mol%, 25 to 32% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 13% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 35 to 60% ZnO (exclusive of 35%), 7 to 16% BaO, 3 to 7% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and 0 to 5% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and electrode coating PbO-free glass essentially consisting of, in terms of percentage by mass, 14 to 22% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 7% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 25 to 50% ZnO (exclusive of 25%), 10 to 24% BaO, 13 to 30% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and 0 to 5% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>.
