FIELD: agriculture, in particular, methods for selecting forms of cereal plants with high maturing rate and low photoperiodic response and plants with late-maturation and high photoperiodic response. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves growing hybrid populations under short day conditions; selecting forms of different maturing rate and photoperiodic response at plant stem elongation phase; measuring 10-15-day aged leaves of 4-6 tiers as to optical coefficient of absorption of incident monochromatic radiation within the range of wavelength values of 730-740 nm and differentiating plants by value of said coefficient at wavelength of 730 nm; referring plants with maximum high absorption coefficient to early ripening forms with low photoperiodic response, and plants with lowest absorption coefficient to later ripening forms with high photoperiodic response. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency in determining of genotypes with high-value economic character. ^ 2 cl, 2 dwg, 1 ex |
