The filter material is placed in the lower half-shell of the sump, which is held in a lower tool, and the upper half-shell is located correctly on it by an upper tool. A vacuum is applied to produce a hermetic seal and the edges are then joined by vibration welding. Correct alignment is ensured by pegs in the upper tool that engage in the lower tool. The location of the filter material is checked, e.g. with a camera, before the tool is closed. The upper shell has a pump connection, which is blocked before placing it in the tool. After the complete sump is removed from the tool, metallic bushes are fitted for the attachment bolts. |
