FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of halogen fluorides, in particular, to synthesis of iodine heptafluoride. Method for synthesis of iodine heptafluoride involves interaction of iodine with fluoride to form iodine pentafluoride. Additional fluorination of iodine pentafluoride to iodine heptafluoride is carried out at increased temperature in magnesium fluoride granules layer followed by condensation of the end product and recovery unreacted iodine pentafluoride for additional fluorination. Invention provides decreasing temperature at step for synthesis of iodine heptafluoride from iodine pentafluoride and enhancing yield of the end product. ^ EFFECT: improved method for synthesis. ^ 3 cl
