The gap (E2) has two main electrodes (4`, 5`) and a pre-trip unit (6). An electrical circuit has a coupling unit (7) that couples branches (B1, B2) and connected to the pre-trip unit. The coupling unit is adapted to control the trip of the gap (E2) during the trip of the gap (E1).
