<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc tube that can be further miniaturized while keeping the lamp efficiency and a luminescence light flux. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp comprises the arc tube formed by bending a glass tube in a double helix shape, a bottomed cylindrical holding member for holding the arc tube, an electronic ballast for lighting the arc tube, a conical case that engages with the peripheral wall of the holding member and covers the electronic ballast, and a globe for covering the arc tube. The inner diameter of the arc tube is set to Di (mm), and its tube-wall load is set to L (W/cm<SP>2</SP>). In the Cartesian coordinates of Di and L, (Di, L) is defined in a range surrounded by the following points: (2.5, 0.31), (4.0, 0.35), (5.5, 0.30), (6.5, 0.19), and (2.5, 0.01). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
