<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable gas barrier film having an inorganic oxide vapor deposition layer and a protective layer not deteriorated in gas barrier properties, water vapor barrier properties and adhesion even if post-processing such as printing or the like is applied and reduced in environmental load, and a packaging material using it. <P>SOLUTION: The inorganic oxide vapor deposition layer (2) is provided at least on one side of a biodegradable polymer base material (1) and the protective layer (3) comprising a mixture of melamine and/or its derivative is further provided on the inorganic oxide vapor deposition layer 2.
