PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with constitution suitable for controlling the mixing ratio of two kinds of toner having nearly the same hue and having different reflection density to a predetermined range. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a developing device 10C having a developer container 14C for storing mixed developer composed by mixing two kinds of toner having nearly the same hue and having the different reflection density, a replenishing device 64C replenishing the developer container with two kinds of toner T<SB>L</SB>and T<SB>H</SB>, a sensor 62C detecting whether or not the developer container 14C is nearly emptied of the mixed developer, and a controller 74 measuring the mixing ratio of the toner in the developer container 14C and also controlling the replenishing device 64C so that the mixing ratio lies within a previously decided range in accordance with the measured toner mixing ratio and the result of detection by the sensor 62C.
