PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery facilitating welding of a terminal plate and a negative electrode tap. SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery is equipped with an electrode assembly 212 containing a positive plate 213, a negative plate 215, a separator 214, a positive electrode tap 216 and a negative electrode tap 217 connected to the positive plate 213 and the negative plate 214 respectively, and a cap assembly having a cap plate 240, an electrode terminal 230, and a terminal plate 260. The terminal plate 260 has a projection 265 formed in a prescribed shape between one end where a terminal through hole 261 for connecting the electrode terminal 230 and the other end.
